Robert Redford Stone was the third child of James Henry Stone & Alice Redford born June 29th, 1882 at Pendleton, Salford, Lancs.
In 1891 Robert & his parents & 2 brothers & 3 sisters were living at 8 Cleggs Square, Pendleton.
By 1901 the family had moved to 10 Dumville St, Pendleton. Robert was still living at home & now working as a warehouse assistant. Living with them was Robert’s grandmother, widowed Mary Ann Stone.
Robert married Annie Lizzie Chapman in April-June 1907 at Salford. Annie Lizzie was christened September 7th, 1884 at the parish church Prestwick, Lancashire, the daughter of Sarah Ann & Charles Chapman, a coachman.
Their first child, Hilda, was born in Jan-March, 1908 at Salford. Later that year in August Robert, listed as a warehouseman on the manifest, emigrated to Canada. Annie was to follow him with daughter Hilda within the next few years.
The 1911 census of Manitoba, Canada shows Robert & Annie with their 3 year old daughter Hilda.
In 1912 a son James was born, followed by a daughter Dora 3 years later.
By 1916 the family had moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Another son Robert was born in 1920.
It is known that Annie & the 4 children returned from Canada to Liverpool, England arriving on December 20th, 1925. Their address was given as 69 Fitzwarren St, Sedley, Salford, & their intended future residence was England. Daughter Hilda was described as a waitress.
On June 1st, 1932 daughter Hilda married William Phillips at Paddington, Lancashire.
Annie was living on her own at the time of the 1939 register at 32 Rosa St, Salford.
Robert, aged 68, died on June 7th, 1951 at Mt St Joseph Hospital, Vancouver, British Columbia & was buried June 13th, 1951 at Mount View Cemetery, Vancouver. He died of heart failure & his occupation before death was given as gardener & his address was Powell St, Vancouver. He had become a Canadian citizen & it was noted on the death certificate that he was divorced.
Annie, aged 67, also died in 1951, in July-September, her death being registered in Salford.
